As the founder and President of Braveheart Properties of Brevard, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Cocoa, Florida, Jinkie has dedicated her career to creating attainable housing opportunities. She is also the developer of Peacewind, a 35-acre legally zoned and code-compliant tiny home and small cottage community that provides permanent housing opportunities for both renters and homeowners.
Recognizing the need for long-term affordable housing solutions, Jinkie successfully led the effort to write and secure approval for the zoning and development framework that made Peacewind possible. Today, the community includes 84 homesites featuring a diverse mix of tiny homes on wheels and small cottages on foundations, demonstrating that innovative housing can be both legal and sustainable.

Jinkie is also the founder of Echols Rentals and continues to advocate for practical, sustainable housing solutions that create opportunities for individuals, families, and communities.
Affordable housing and environmental stewardship are two of the greatest challenges of our time, yet they also present one of our greatest opportunities. By embracing innovative housing solutions that use fewer resources, occupy less land, and consume less energy, we can create communities that are both attainable and sustainable. Small homes, thoughtfully planned neighborhoods, and responsible development practices have the potential to reduce our environmental footprint while making home-ownership and quality housing accessible to more people.
Tiny homes and small cottages offer something that many modern communities have lost—a sense of connection. They create opportunities for neighbors to know and support one another, fostering mutual assistance, shared resources, and stronger community bonds. They can provide flexible housing options that encourage multi-generational living, allowing families to remain connected while maintaining independence. They also support aging in place, giving older adults the opportunity to remain in familiar surroundings, close to loved ones and their community, rather than being forced to leave because of housing costs or changing life circumstances.
The choices we make today will shape the world inherited by future generations. When we build communities that balance human needs with environmental responsibility, we create more than housing—we create a legacy. Together, we have the ability to re-imagine how we live, conserve valuable resources, strengthen communities, and leave behind a healthier, more sustainable world for generations to come.
